Durban Poison

Effect:

Review from Steve:

I just had a sip of my Bolthouse Farms Green Goodness fruit smoothie.  I swear it tastes as good as anything I have ever had in my life right now.  Now why do I bring that up?  Well I started into my test bowl for this review about 15 minutes ago and realized I was hungry.  There was a study that came out recently that looked at why people get the munchies when they smoke marijuana.  The big shocking results of the study?  Smoking marijuana makes food smell and taste better...well duh!

This is clear headed functional medicine for me.  Im well into my test bowl now and I feel great.  I feel pretty focused and alert.  My attention to detail feels like Im sober.  Yet I clearly feel high.  I may actually feel more focused than usual right now.  Dang it...just cleared my bowl and coughed and that has lead to...hiccups.

Took a couple bowls for the the inevitable heaviness to start to set in.  Very much a cerebral and heady effect.

Review from Driver T-roy:

The flowers of Durban Poison are enough to make them stand out with their longer, bulbous shape, looking lanky and long, like Randy Johnson on the pitchers mound.  But it’s the affects that are equally noticeable and strong after the first hit.  There isn’t a whole lot of orange hairs and just a soft dusting of crystals on the buds surface, but DP will shift your perspective, with a liquorish taste and piney aroma. Overall, I’m feeling Stoney and lifted, and a little bit of tingling on my skin. Like other sativas as of late it’s cerebrally enticing and has me in deep thought.  DP isn’t really an energy giving bud for me, though the takeaway on Leafly is resoundingly the opposite, saying it’s very energetic and energizing.  For me, my experience was more of a mood enhancer, setting and even inflating the mood I was in, but it never took the wheel and steered my thoughts and mind process in any weird or euphoric directions. Though, I had a couple of moments of numbness too, like clearing my mind of any and all crowded thought. This would be a good strain for depression or lack of focus and concentration, or for even acute social anxiety to get you out of the house and on your feet.

Genetics/Info:

Very good bud formation and good crystal content.  Smells like a pine tree covered in sweet candy.

Durban Poison is known as a strong sativa originating in Africa.  Named after the African port city of Durban.

Medicinal Uses:

THC dominant Sativa strains such as Durbin Poison tend to act as more of a stimulant with a cerebral or "heady" high.   Many patients have had great success treating symptons in the areas of appetite stimulation, relieving depression, migraines, chronic pain and nausea.

Some people, particualry those who have been diagnosed ADD or ADHD can have the Indica/Sativa scale flip on them.  For many of these patients Indicas will provide the effect typical of Sativas.  And this strain will actually induce Indica like effects.  For those patients this strain would act in a more sedative or relaxant.   For those patients this would be a good strain for treating the symptoms of medical conditions such as anxiety, chronic pain, insomnia, muscle spasms and tremors.
